LUMAJANG, April 24, 2026 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UMSURA) organized a Cultural Immersion program for international students in Lumajang Regency as an effort to introduce local culture, community social values, and Muhammadiyah-based empowerment practices.
This program was carried out in collaboration with the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PDM) Lumajang and was attended by international students from various countries. The activities were conducted with great enthusiasm, as participants were invited to directly observe the daily lives of local communities as well as the region’s potential.
Through this program, students not only learned about the local culture of Lumajang but also gained insights into how Muhammadiyah contributes to community development through education, social initiatives, and economic empowerment.
One of the main agendas of this program was visits to several community empowerment sites under the guidance of PDM Lumajang. Participants received explanations regarding the role of Muhammadiyah in improving community welfare through sustainable programs.
This Cultural Immersion program is expected to serve as a hands-on learning opportunity for international students to better understand Indonesian social life, while also strengthening cross-cultural relationships between foreign students and local communities.
The event was conducted in a warm atmosphere and concluded with a discussion session and group documentation.
