Brief Introduction Darmasiswa & BIPA MUS
I. Introduction
In the era of globalization marked by international mobility in education, culture, and economics, the demand for learning Bahasa Indonesia for Speakers of Other Languages (BIPA) has grown significantly. The Indonesian language is not only used as a national means of communication but is also increasingly recognized internationally as a strategic language in the Southeast Asian region and beyond.
The BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) Program emerges as a response to the rising interest of foreign nationals in learning Bahasa Indonesia for academic, professional, research, cultural, and social purposes. Beyond developing linguistic competence, this program also aims to introduce Indonesian culture as an integral part of the learning experience.
As one of the universities committed to advancing international education, Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya offers the BIPA Program with a communicative, interactive, and culture-based learning approach. The program is designed to enable learners to use Bahasa Indonesia functionally in daily life while fostering a deeper understanding of Indonesian social and cultural values.
