Introduction The Partnership and Internationalization Office (LKI)

The Partnership and Internationalization Office (LKI) at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (MUS) serves as a key academic unit responsible for developing strategic collaborations and advancing the university’s internationalization initiatives. As the gateway to global engagement, LKI plays a vital role in establishing partnerships with reputable institutions, industries, and organizations both in Indonesia and overseas. These collaborations support MUS’s mission to become a center of excellence in morality, intellectuality, and entrepreneurship anchored in the pursuit of global competitiveness and sustainable innovation.

LKI is led by a Head who reports directly to the Vice Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Digitalization. To ensure effective coordination and professional management, the office consists of several divisions: Domestic Cooperation, International Cooperation, Darmasiswa Program, Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA), Administration, Legal, and Immigration Services, and International Student Services. Each division works collaboratively to enhance the quality and impact of international engagement, ensuring that all programs align with MUS’s academic goals, institutional values, and strategic vision.

With the authority to initiate and manage partnerships upon the Rector’s approval, LKI also administers a wide range of programs, including the Darmasiswa Scholarship, BIPA, summer and short courses, student exchanges, and international academic mobility. The office provides comprehensive support for visa, immigration, and documentation services for international students and visiting scholars. Through these initiatives, the Partnership and Internationalization Office serves as a bridge connecting MUS with the global academic community fostering cross-cultural understanding, collaborative innovation, and global citizenship.

More than an administrative body, LKI embodies Muhammadiyah’s values of integrity, inclusivity, and service to humanity. It leads MUS’s global engagement efforts through educational diplomacy, research collaboration, and sustainable partnerships. Through its programs and networks, the Partnership and Internationalization Office reinforces MUS’s vision to nurture globally competent graduates and to shape an inclusive, forward-looking university that contributes meaningfully to the betterment of society and the world.
