LUMAJANG, April 24, 2026 – International students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UMSURA) visited one of the MSMEs fostered by the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PDM) Lumajang as part of their effort to learn about community-based economic empowerment.
During the visit, students were introduced to a home-based business producing various types of bread, cakes, and snacks with distinctive flavors and unique innovations. These MSME products stand out for using natural ingredients and creative recipes that differentiate them from others in the market.
One product that particularly caught the participants’ attention was nastar filled with cheese made from orange peel. This innovation creates a fragrant citrus aroma, a distinctive taste, and added health value for consumers. Thanks to its quality and uniqueness, the product has even reached international markets.
The international students showed great enthusiasm in tasting and purchasing the products offered. They were also interested in learning about the production process and business strategies implemented by the enterprise.
Beyond producing high-quality goods, the MSME also generates a positive social impact on the surrounding community. The business empowers many women in the village, especially housewives, by involving them in the production of cakes and bread.
The presence of MSMEs fostered by PDM Lumajang is considered to help increase household income and improve the living standards of the local community. This visit provided valuable insights for international students on the importance of business innovation and community-based economic empowerment.
The event concluded with a friendly gathering session and a group photo between the participants and the MSME owners.
