Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UMSurabaya) continues to strengthen its presence on the international stage. Soon, UMSurabaya will inaugurate the Global Hub (GH), a representative space dedicated exclusively to international students. Located on the 11th floor of the Attaawun Tower Building, it boasts a modern design that supports both academic and non-academic activities.
Yuanita Wulandari, Head of the UMSurabaya International Cooperation Institute (LKI), explained that the number of international students this year is showing a positive trend.
"This year we accepted 21 international students from various countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Meanwhile, 18 international students are already actively studying in Surabaya," she said on Monday (September 8, 2023).
The Global Hub will become a center for international student activities. It will not only serve as a study space but also feature microteaching rooms, co-working spaces, personal lockers, and other supporting facilities for interaction, collaboration, and cross-cultural networking.
Vice Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Digitalization, Radius Setiyawan, stated that preparations for the launch are now entering the final stages.
"We await the arrival of all international students. Currently, preparations for the Global Hub are 80 percent complete," he said.
Radius added that the number of international students at UMSurabaya continues to increase every year. This demonstrates UMSurabaya's commitment to providing an inclusive, multicultural academic atmosphere, while supporting its vision of becoming a global-class campus.
With the presence of the Global Hub, UMSurabaya will not only become a place of learning, but also a cultural meeting place where students from various parts of the world can meet, learn together, and build cross-border friendships.
Radius stated that the arrival of international students at UMSurabaya also provides a valuable opportunity for UMSurabaya students to broaden their global horizons. Cross-cultural interactions are expected to foster a more inclusive, progressive, and open academic ecosystem.
With the presence of the Global Hub, UMSurabaya further affirms its vision as a leading university ready to compete internationally, while also building bridges of friendship between nations through education.
