On January 23, 2026, the Faculty of Education, Communication, and Science (FPKS), in collaboration with PUSBA and the BIPA Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, welcomed Catherine D. from Soochow University, Taiwan.
The visit was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international academic collaboration and expand global engagement initiatives. During her time on campus, Prof. Catherine D. delivered a guest lecture attended by students, lecturers, and academic staff. The session focused on language education development, intercultural communication, and global perspectives in higher education. Through interactive discussions, students gained valuable insights into international academic practices and cross-cultural learning experiences.
The lecture session was followed by a strategic discussion between faculty leaders and the visiting professor regarding potential academic cooperation. Topics discussed included joint research opportunities, collaborative teaching programs, student exchange possibilities, and curriculum enrichment through international perspectives.
In the discussion, the Dean of FKIP formally offered Prof. Catherine D. the opportunity to serve as a Visiting Lecturer at FPKS for a period of one month. This proposed program aims to provide students with sustained international exposure, enhance collaborative teaching activities, and strengthen institutional partnerships between both universities.
The visit reflects Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya’s commitment to advancing its internationalization agenda. By fostering partnerships with reputable global institutions such as Soochow University, the university continues to create meaningful opportunities for academic exchange, knowledge sharing, and cross-border collaboration.
